when i started this blog, i make it a point never to give negative review about any eateries or products. but today I must for this must be one of the most horrendous dining experience in 2011!
Venue: VictOr's kitchen @ sunshine plaza.
Time: 3pm on Saturday afternoon
Food: We ordered the typical dim sum types like prawn dumplings, siew mai, Chee Cheong fun, chicken feet, pork ribs and their so-called renowned XO sauce carrot cake.
Verdict: It was really normal and honestly if a blind test was conducted, I would think this is obtained from those normal kopitiam type of dim sum. The best dish is perhaps the pork ribs that is, unlike elsewhere, not fatty. We didn't ordered any of their fried dim sum for it simply look too oily.
I really don't understand why this place is always so crowded! Thou we reached there at 3pm, we have to queue up as it is still full house.
So there must be some fantastic dishes that they have and we have not tried but what exactly is that? I would not queue anything more than 5 mins for this eatery.
Ordering Procedures: You are expected to take your own order form from the counter and marked down the food you want to order.
Then u are expected to take the form and pass it back to them at the cashier.
This is when the problem arises. The supposedly lady boss was busy talking on her hp and totally ignored ZH (even when zh is standing in front of her). She keep talking and talking (very loudly in Cantonese) and totally ignored our presence. When she finally got off the line, she was not at all apologetic about making us wait and don't even bother to smile.
Clearing and setting the table: They took forever to come. I think the 2 FWs were pitiful. They are working non-stop while the lady boss was idling away. When they finally came to clear our table, they toppled the dishes and nearly sent the food onto our lap.
When our dim sum arrived, they haven't even given us our chopsticks and plate. (We were already waiting for 30mins already)
Waiting time: Between the time we have placed our orders till our orders get delivered, it was a 30mins wait. This is considered long since most of the tables are already almost done with their food.
We ordered 6 dim sum types and all but one was served together. Knowing they are busy, we didn't rushed them thou I kind of expected them to have missed this order just like what happened to the table next to us.
On the next table, they are already done with 99% of their food and their last dish is still not here. When the guy tried to cancel the dish, the lady boss refuses. *what the crap*
And so, we also finished our food and yet the last dish is still not here. So another 5mins gone by before our food was then served.
Payment: Same as ordering, we have to settle the bill by ourselves at the cashier. That's when the next and most terrible service experience arose!
In front of zh, 1 foreigner was trying to settle her bill. She spoke in English and looks very tai tai. When she first came in, she has already caught my attention cos the lady boss finally stop her idling activity and served her. All in the name of english speaking? When she settle her bill, I think she also has 1 unserved dish. The lady boss immediately ask her staff to check. When the dish came out, the lady boss was still paying super tons of attention on her table and even asked her staff to give them one more spoon. While all these are going on, the lady boss never failed to carry a wide smile on her face.
We were the next in queue. As we thought we have 1 more dish unserved so zh went to tell the lady boss. The lady boss iMMEDIATELY gave us a disguising look as if we wanted to cheat her. This is a 180 deg change from the attitude she displayed towards the foreigner and us! We were so pissed off.
We told her we just wanted to check. Honestly, why would anyone even bother to cheat her? And how come her service attitude towards that foreigner and us can be so drastically different?
Even my good tempered hubby thinks this is ridiculous! They are never ever going to earn our money again.
If you ever seriously thought of going there, think TWICE! For us, we will NEVER!
